If you are looking for an incredibly simple program that will convert measurements from one unit to another, this shareware is a perfect option. 32bit Convert It was created by ElectraSoft and works on any Windows-based computer. It does have a nag screen, but it's not much of a bother and is well worth the convenience of using the program.
The software is very intuitive to use and works dynamically so you don't even have to click a button after you enter the measurement you want to convert. You do have to select what units you are converting from and to, but after you do that, just change the number in either box to see the conversion on the other side change dynamically in real time. The program also remembers what you had entered previously and comes up next time with these values, so if there is a conversion you do all the time, you won't have to set everything each time you want to use it.
32bit Convert It will perform just about any conversion you could want. It does conversions for length, volume, weight, area, density, speed, and temperature. The setup is great because each one is on a different tab so you don't have too many options to choose from in any one tab. Plus, that means it will save the values on each tab so you can save the most common conversion you do of each type.
The program is very helpful if you need to convert between the metric system and the units that are more common in the United States, and is especially helpful for converting with recipes. As a cook, I loved being able to input each of the measurements and immediately know what they are on my measuring cups.
One of the other great features of the program is that it allows you to choose how specific you want the conversions to be, selecting the right number of decimal places to display. That way you can get anything from a ballpark conversion to an incredibly specific one.
