The Windows Event Viewer is included in every version of Windows since Windows 2000. The Event Viewer is hard to read for a new server admin, and you must remember to look up any security errors each day when you review the Viewer’s logs. Snare for Windows is a solution that eliminates the headaches of searching the Event Viewer logs and finding the main issues for the server.
Snare for Windows includes a web interface, so you can configure and read the console from a web browser. Snare lets you set several search phrases, alert levels, and the types of security audits you want to catch. These audits are then logged and can be viewed in a web browser. Snare reduces the amount of time it takes to review the security and errors on your server, so you don’t need to search for errors among the hundreds of other events in the Viewer on your server.
Snare for Windows also works with other operating systems, so you can use the software across a heterogeneous network to consolidate the errors for all of your servers, simplifying the daily maintenance tasks for network administrators. This lets you keep track of all servers on an enterprise network in one location. The system sets up quickly on the server using a free download package, and it uses very little resources on your server, so your users don’t experience any slowdowns connecting to the network.
