tonespace 2.0.361 Beta Review |
Softango review
Here's a neat little app for download for all the music and math fans out there. Tonespace 2.0.361 has a fully functional little keyboard for everyone who fancies themselves as the next Mozart or 80's iconic popstar, plus the geometric and algorithmic-based grid for visual accompaniment is a really nice touch. It doesn't just provide a background visual to the music you make; you design the background to go with your music. It's a full-on techno show, no matter what you create!
Music and Math teachers unite! Use this in your classrooms to prove a point--that music and math are both languages and rely on each other to succeed. It's a fun application for an individual but it's even better in a classroom! Tonespace will change the way you and your students see and compose music.
Don't worry everyone; tonespace is fully supported by all Windows OS and doesn't require MIDI to get going. It works well as an Audio Unit/VST plugin, if you do happen to have MIDI and work with it a lot. The downside is that it only has 18 keys and 14 scales, so it's like a mini-keyboard, not a full-sized one. It does manage over 30 chord types, however, so that sort of makes up for the limits on keys and scales. Overall it's pretty easy to use, which is why it should make a great classroom app and a great music composer's starter app.
Tonespace, like many other apps here, is a free download. It doesn't have trial limitations or upgrades, so that's good too. Once downloaded, it's yours forever, or however long you teach math or music, or however long you imagine you're a stunning music composer.
