When you are looking for a way to create a phone number database, the ksPhony Alpha program is simple enough to provide you with what you need.
There are a lot of complicated programs out there that perform very simple functions. However, we like the ksPhony Alpha because it’s a small and simple Java-based program that is easy to use and simple in design. The software is designed to store phone numbers that you don’t want to have written down or that you can’t remember.
If you’re lazy or you have a bad memory, ksPhony Alpha is the program that you can download to help you out with that. It’s a shareware program which means that it’s free to use for a certain amount of time. It also runs on all versions of Windows all the way up to Windows 7, which we like. Some of the other programs haven’t been updated to support 7 yet and we’re happy that this one does.
The ksPhony Alpha program is still in the fairly early stages of testing which means that a few bugs may be present. We haven’t run across any but in time, there may be updates with the program. The designer has said that there are hopes to add some additional features including:
- Voice input
- Display of photos next to phone number
The ksPhony Alpha program is basically a small database where you can put a name to a phone number for quick reference later on. The program saves the data as a .txt file so that you can maintain all of your data, send it to other people and put it onto a jump drive for safe keeping.
There is a find feature inside of ksPhony Alpha that allows you to search for all of the numbers that you need. This way you can put a person’s name in the find box and the number will be located and appear on the screen for you to dial onto your phone.
This is one of those programs that don’t sound too important, but if your phone is suddenly wiped clean, you’ll be glad to have ksPhony Alpha on your computer.
