Avira AntiVir Personal Free Antivirus 10.0.0.567 Review |
Softango review
With so many companies trying to sell you anti-virus software, it's easy to forget that free solutions exist. Avira is one of those options, and this anti-virus program is compatible with Windows XP through Windows 7; although, the 2013 version doesn't yet work with the latest release of Microsoft's operating system. However, it does come with a revamp that removes annoying features such as popups and adds aggressive virus-fighting features to the program.
Avira AntiVir Personal Free Antivirus is, of course, free for personal use. The solutions from Avira have received multiple awards in the past, including those from VB100 and Gold Certification from OESIS OK, which the software got for compatibility with various networks. You shouldn't have any issue running this software on your own computer, then.
If you've used Avira in the past, its most recent interface will be familiar. Tools are available in a sidebar with additional information in the center of the program screen. This is similar to other anti-virus tools. A red, yellow and green indicator system lets you know that your system is protected or alerts you to tasks that you may want to perform, such as downloading virus updates or performing a scan on your computer.
Avira divides threats into PC protection and Internet protection, so you have the option to scan files already on your system with the former. Generic and rootkit scans are available with this program, which can help you remove those vigorous infections. Internet protection actually means a toolbar that you can choose to install in your browser to protect you against potentially-malicious websites. The toolbar prevents tracking cookies while blocking ads. Social network protection is also integrated in this toolbar; however. it can hijack your hybrid ask/search bar in browsers like Chrome. You may find this annoying, but you can get around this if you use Firefox.
The newest version of Avira does check for virus updates every six hours, so you'll get protection against the latest malware sooner than before. Avira offers fantastic support when it comes to preventing infections in the first place.
