File Extension DEX

Information about DEX files and how to open them

DEX - Dalvik Executable File is a type of executable file format that stores compiled code originally written for Android operating systems, which is Google’s Linux-inspired mobile operating system. This file type is normally called a Dalvik Executable, and it is capable of being interpreted by a virtual machine supporting Dalvik. A DEX - Dalvik Executable File can always be created either manually or by translating already compiled Java applications. Multiple instances of these files can be zipped into a lone APK file, and that will usually serve as the final Android app to be distributed for commercial use.
