File Extension JPX

Information about JPX files and how to open them

The JPX - JPEG 2000 Image File is an improved form of the old JPEG file format. The JPX format now uses a "lossless" or "lossy" compression system. This improved JPEG formatting allows the image files to retain transparency information as well as the alpha and spot channels. Earlier JPEG formatting did not allow this data to be retained. The JPX format also allows for the storing of some metadata for file description purposes.
