Sometimes when creating files in a text program an ME - Readme Text File is created. These files contain information pertaining to specific software applications. Usually, you will find them quite easily because they are generally titled simply as READ.ME, and they are often generated as the software application is being installed. READ.me files are typiclaly simple plain text files that are easily opened and viewed in any text editor program you choose to view it in.
These ME files are typically information only files, meaning they cannot be altered and do not contain any infomration that makes the program function in any way. However, if you cannot open an ME file and you need to, you may need to locate a software application capable of opening plain text files. There are several programs that can handle this task.
There are a few other applications that are often associated with ME file extensions. They include Multi Edit Software Incorporated, which is a code development software program; Nroff, which uses ME marcos for a formatted manual page; and Unknown Apple II File, which is associated with the Golden Orchard Apple II CD Rom. These applications use ME macro files.
