The MXF - Material Exchange Format File is a multimedia file format that is commonly used by audio and video digital programs. This program is designed by Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and is one of the standard video and audio data containers. This file will capture, store and make accessible audio and video data. It also stores metadata which is descriptive of the media that is stored within the file.
This particular file is capable of being converted into other file formats with relative ease; whether it is .AVI, .MOV or MXF files which helps create a more efficient workflow process between the different platforms like editing equipment, servers, cameras, etc. The format adapts a subset of the AFF – Advanced Authoring Format; helping to standardize the video interchange between multiple vender platforms.
