File Extension PROFILE

Information about PROFILE files and how to open them

PROFILE - Bash Shell Profile is mainly used by Mac OS X as well as Linux. There are different terminal programs in which you can use to create a shell environment. You will also be able to take advantage of scripts to execute, as well as many other instructions. These are all settings that are first loaded along with a program when it first starts up. If you want to manually run the profile of your choice, all you will have to do is use the command source profile that comes along with the extension. Some of the files are hidden and do not contain any such filename prefix. They are also located right in the user’s home directory. Once you open up the terminal, you will be able to locate the profile right away.
