Connecting to a desktop server from a different location can be harder then what you imagined. This is when you should use a file like the RDP - Remote Desktop Configuration File. When you use this file, you can easily connect to the server and know it will be working for you because of the connection you have. Without this, you may still be able to connect, but the chances are lower and you would have to do quite a bit of computer work to get the work done and this can be time consuming.
