We work with hundreds of documents every day, from emails to regular word processing documents. While we are familiar with most file formats to know which programs work well to open them, sometimes we run across documents that leave us scratching our heads in puzzlement. One such document extension is the .rtf.
An .rtf file extension simply means it is an RTX - Rich Text Document. These documents are regularly used in text editors but have more text features such as bolded, italicized and underlined text. These documents also have different types of fonts and font sizes from just regular text documents.
Almost any word processing program can open up this document, including basic text editors. Many people simply use the Microsoft WordPad application included with their system so that they do not have to download any special type of software program.
A good thing about using a RTX - Rich Text Document is that most people can use and download the document with very little problems. This document does not experience many formatting issues that come up when using different word processing documents. So it doesn't matter what type of operating system the person is using. Whether you have the newest computer system or an old one held together with luck and duct tape, you will be able to access and use documents in this format.
So don't get afraid when using a RTX - Rich Text Document. It simply is a more advanced document than a regular text document with a .txt file extension as it has more formatting options. Use the document in any way you see fit, including copying and pasting parts of the document into other word processing pages as the transition should not create those funky Greek characters on the screen. Have the ability to do many things with an RTX - Rich Text Document that you cannot with other regular text documents while sharing this file with ease with other computer users.
Have fun using RTX - Rich Text Documents.
