SPC - Software Publisher Certificate File is a digital certificate file created by a public key encryption standard, or PKCS, application. Open SSL and Microsoft .NET Framework's Signcode.exe are two examples of programs that create these files. SPC files are used for the authentication of downloaded files and some other information found on the internet. Most web browsers, email applications and the Adobe reader application among others, can read these files. The file, when read, contains a public version of a private key allowing authentication without giving out the private version of the authentication key.
