An application that helps you to make multiple downloads at once from RapidShare
FreeRapid is my next application after Wordrider and Damaq. It\"s a simple Java downloader that supports downloading from Rapidshare and other file-sharing services.
The user will only have to copy and paste the links from a browser to this application. FreeRapid Downloader will handle the rest itself. No more clicking or uncomfortable waiting.

I hate waiting for downloads as much as the next guy...More actually, since downloading is sort of my job. Needless to say, I was kind of looking forward to trying FreeRapid Downloader 0.86 Update 1. It's designed to work with Rapidshare, but it works with other download sites as well. Downloading the FreeRapid Downloader itself was painless.
The good news is that it worked pretty much as advertised. I was able to download multiple files from Rapidshare at the same time just by cutting andf pasting the links. I even tried downloading one from Rapidshare and one from a second-rate download site that I would have never expected to cooperate, but it worked fine on both at the same time. For file downloads it was nice, but I really noticed the difference in streaming videos--the lag was much better even with multiple videos loading.
For freeware, FreeRapid Downloader 0.86 Update 1 has got some nice bells and whistles. It automatically checks for the file's existence on the server and keeps a download history for you. I didn't need the automatic shutdown and I haven't been using it long enough to really use the update function, but they're supposedly there if I need them. I had never used the original version, but apparently this one has also corrected some of the original's mistakes, fixing a few bugs and getting the dialog boxes to pop quicker. There are also a ton of language options on this version--I'm not sure if that's new, but I was surprised to see just how many languages are supported (Czech, Finnish, Chinese, etc.). All in all, this is a nice piece of freeware for people who spend a lot of time downloading and don't really have the patience for it.
