The Magic Encyclopedia is an older game which has since enjoyed a few spin-offs. The story is fairly basic. Catherine is an apprentice working at the Magic Academy. She has almost graduated, when one day a mysterious paper airplane floats to her through a window. She sees it is filled with teleport symbols. She learns her brother has disappeared and must leave the academy to find him.
This game is filled with buzzes, zaps, and explosions with beautiful wind flute music in the background. The story takes place amid some stunning scenery and is a bit different than most puzzle games. Yes, there are plenty of artifacts to find, but you have an artifact bar filled with broken items. In each scene you must find the pieces for your broken artifacts. However, that is only a part of it. After you have located all the pieces and assembled your broken artifacts, you need to find a crystal to activate and repair them. Once this is done they become available to use, and you must figure out how to use each artifact in the scene. For being a simple search game, there is certainly a lot happening in it, not to mention the mini games, which you are not allowed to skip. With the game being as fun to play as it is to look at and hear, you can see why The Magic Encyclopedia has become a successful brand.
